What is the Polish certification exam?

The Polish state certification exam tests proficiency in reading, listening, grammar, writing, and speaking. Achieving a B1 certificate is a common requirement for foreigners applying for permanent residency or citizenship in Poland.

The Państwowy egzamin certyfikatowy z języka polskiego jako obcego is Poland’s official examination for Polish as a foreign language. It is taken at authorised centres on fixed weekends (several sessions per year). Successful candidates receive a state certificate at a given level.

Levels commonly offered include B1, B2, C1, and C2. Each level has its own standards for reading, listening, grammar, writing, and speaking. The certificate is widely recognised for study, work, and administrative processes in Poland — specific requirements depend on institutions and law.

PolishReady helps you prepare online: exam-style tasks, progress tracking, and AI-assisted feedback on writing and speaking practice. We are not a test centre and do not replace official registration or the on-site exam.

If you need certainty about residence permits, citizenship, or university admission, rely on official government information and qualified advisers — not on any commercial prep site alone.
